Five minutes of Fame?!

Hi, I don’t know if any of my blog readers also read Sew magazine, but in issue 9, page 46 you wlll find a couple of mug shots of me!
I was asked by the magazine’s Editorial Assistant Nikki Arnold to write a piece for their feature on selling home made crafts online. Here you will find my reasons for setting up shop on Folksy and my hints and tips for successful on-line selling.
“I set up on Folksy to get my listings on Google. It has been optimised for search engines and is an easy way to get my products noticed. It is also more cost effective than auction sites, and attracts the right kind of customer.”

Woohoo! I won a prize!
Mar 3rd
Not only is Folksy fab for buying hand made goodies, it’s good for winning hand made goodies too! Quite often the dedicated and talented crafts people that populate Folksy will run give-aways and competitions. If you check the forum you will usually find the details regarding who is running what and how to enter.
Well, I did enter one such competition that was being run by Mrs G Knits, and this is what I won. What a wonderful prize!
Mrs G. makes a wonderful variety of brooches, scarves, hats, gloves, wraps, knitted necklaces and more!
She loves working with luxurious yarns; chunky, hand-spun and hand-dyed slubby wools. Knitting with mohair and cashmere is a delightful experience too. The best of both she has found in chunky baby alpaca and at the moment that’s a favourite.
Her designs are usually quite functional and simple because for, she says, the colour is the star of the show and designs need to be wearable and practical.
Why not check out Mrs G’s Folksy Shop to see what other delights she has made and treat yourself to something gorgeous?
